Blue Economy Fair

On June 7th, the Ministry of Blue Economy and Disaster Risk Management held its ‘2nd Blue Economy Climate Resilience Fair.’

The fair featured booth displays showcasing national and sub-national entities, including non-governmental organizations and initiatives.

Its objectives were to educate and raise awareness on various topics, offer networking opportunities, distribute valuable resources, engage the community, address specific issues, promote services and programs, and facilitate feedback and interactive experiences.

This event provided a platform for individuals, organizations, and service providers to share and gain knowledge, connect, and access useful information and support.

Tara Scarborough ‘’I want to give a big shoutout to my colleagues from the Belize Sustainable Ocean Plan Unit and the Coastal Planning Unit. Their collaboration with the Reef Resilience Initiative Unit resulted in a beautiful, engaging, and informative booth for the fair, proudly representing the Coastal Zone Management Authority & Institute

Blue Economy Forum

On June 6th 2024, the Ministry of Blue Economy and Disaster Risk Management held its ‘2nd Blue Economy Climate Resilience Forum’

This year’s forum theme was “Linking Science and Livelihoods Towards Climate Resilience for the Coastal Zone and Fisheries Sector of Belize.”

The objective of this forum was to provide a platform for discussions on the use of scientific knowledge to enhance resilience and to create awareness of climate change and national adaptation initiatives.

The program entailed presentations and speeches from various representatives engaged in work related to:

1. Belize Climate Change Outlook and Climate Change Impacts on Coastal Communities

2. Governance Frameworks

3. Climate Adaptation in the Coastal Zone and Fisheries Sector

4. Technology and Innovation in the Blue Economy

5. Climate Finance for Climate Adaptation and Mitigation

6. Unlocking Livelihoods for Climate Resilience
