Action Meeting 1 R2R

On January 25th, 2024, the initial partners of the RRI Flagship framework convened for an ACTION meeting to strategize and coordinate activities for the upcoming year.

The partner team includes University of Belize Environmental Research Institute, Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association, WWF Mesoamérica, and Wildlife Conservation Society

For those who are unfamiliar with the initiative, the RRI framework encompasses three projects that are directly linked to three flagship actions:

1. University of Belize Environmental Research Institute + Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association: Strengthening Coral Reef Resilience – This initiative focuses on enhancing adaptive management and stakeholder engagement to address long-term threats to reefs and develop restoration solutions.

2. WWF Mesoamérica: Marine Land Tenure Analysis – This project aims to update the coastal marine tenure inventory for Belize, contributing to engaging coastal marine land stakeholders in formulating better policies, plans, practices, and actions for sustainable and climate-smart development.

3. Wildlife Conservation Society, Belize Program: Sustainable Resilient Supplementary Livelihoods – This endeavor seeks to enhance economic resilience to climate change for fishing communities relying on Glover’s Reef Marine Reserve and South Water Caye Marine Reserve by exploring supplementary livelihood options.
